NFL training camps are slowly getting underway across the country, as the next step towards Week 1 of the NFL regular season takes center stage. The Houston Texans are one of several teams that opened camp on Tuesday, as fans expect them to take another step in 2025 after showing that they can win the division and also a playoff game.
Just like elsewhere in the league, there will be jobs up for grabs in Houston that the fanbase will be keeping a keen eye on. At the same time, many ex-Texans players hope to sign with a new team in the coming days and weeks to get the chance to compete for a 53-man spot.
On Tuesday, one former Texans defender was picked up by a Super Bowl contender, giving him another chance at winning his second championship.
Ex-Texans Pass Rusher Ogbo Okoronkwo Signs with Philadelphia Eagles
According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, former Texans defensive end Ogbo Okoronkwo has signed with the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles.

The 30-year-old defensive lineman was most recently with the Cleveland Browns for the last two years before the Browns parted ways with him last month.
Okoronkwo signed a three-year, $19 million deal with the Browns in March 2023 after spending the 2022 season with the Texans. In his two years with the Browns, the former Texan had 21 quarterback pressures, 17 tackles for loss, 14 quarterback hits, and 7.5 sacks.
When he was with the Texans, the veteran defensive end racked up 17 quarterback pressures, 11 QB hits, nine tackles for loss, and five sacks in 17 games (eight starts). It was Okoronkwo’s best year as a pro, and that was coming off a Super Bowl ring in 2021 with the Los Angeles Rams.
Now the former Texan will try to win his second ring with the Eagles, who could use another vet pass rusher behind the young studs of Nolan Smith Jr. and Jalyx Hunt.
Philadelphia saw Josh Sweat depart in free agency, Brandon Graham retire, and Bryce Huff get traded to the San Francisco 49ers. The Eagles signed Josh Uche and Azeez Ojulari to one-year deals to fill those voids. However, based on Okoronkwo’s body of work over the last three years, he should be able to beat out the younger Uche and Ojulari for regular rotation snaps.
If he does that, the former Texans veteran defensive lineman could set himself up for a nice payday next offseason, whether in Philly or elsewhere.
