The Houston Texans are looking for an even better season in 2025. After making the playoffs for two straight seasons, they were sent packing in the divisional round both times. The Texans understand this isn't good enough, and head coach DeMeco Ryans wanted to hammer home that message early.

Houston began voluntary workouts on April 21, and there are a couple of players in the building getting some early work in. With these guys around, Ryans wanted to send a message early to them.

When speaking to reporters, he said his message was, "Be where your feet are. Let's be connected. Let's talk to our teammates. Let's not be on our cell phone heads down. Let's have lunch with each other."

DeMeco Ryans Sends Message to Team in April

The Texans have a good foundation on the team, but they have failed to take that next step forward. Building a strong foundation with your teammates goes a long way, especially when the season rolls around and things start to hit the fan.

When guys understand their teammates on a deeper level, they are likely to go that extra mile for them on game day. That's what it sounds like Ryans wants his guys to do.

It's clear the Texans have a good head coach in Ryans and they have talent spread out on the team. Now it's about taking that next step and becoming a force to be reckoned with in the AFC.

While it's only April, these are the habits that the Texans need to build and hammer out now. They have gone 10-7 in two straight years and won the AFC South both times but that isn't good enough.

Ryans wants more from his team and you can't blame him. Flaming out in the divisional round isn't good enough and he wants more from his players.
