Former Houston Texans star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is playing in his first Super Bowl as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs. Hopkins began his career with the Texans and spent seven years in Houston before playing with the Arizona Cardinals and Tennessee Titans.

Most fans wanted to see Hopkins make his first Super Bowl in a Texans uniform. But how things played out, it will be with the Chiefs. Tennessee surprisingly traded the veteran wide receiver to the Chiefs before the NFL trade deadline in November.

The star wideout had five years with 1,000-plus receiving yards and made four Pro Bowls in the Lone Star State. In his last season with the Texans in 2019, Hopkins recorded 104 receptions (150 targets) for 1,165 yards and seven touchdowns.

The Texans drafted the veteran pass-catcher with the 27th overall pick in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft, and the rest was history.

According to Cameron Wolfe of the NFL Network, Hopkins showed love to Texans owner Cal McNair and his family before Super Bowl 59 kicked off from Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Seeing McNair and Hopkins show each other love and pleasantries was great as the veteran wide receiver made a lot of plays in a Texans uniform. The veteran wideout lived up to and exceeded all expectations coming out of Clemson.

He was the perfect guy to learn from Andre Johnson, who became a Hall of Famer, and Hopkins will likely be joining him at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.

That said, Houston fans will not openly root for the Chiefs, as they eliminated the Texans in the AFC divisional round last month. However, some Texans fans hope the veteran wide receiver plays well in his first-ever Super Bowl appearance.
