The Houston Texans are preparing for free agency, as there will be a ton of moving parts next week when free agency opens up.

The Texans have some difficult decisions to make since they only have $5 million in cap space per Spotrac. The biggest question marks were around the WR room, and GM Nick Caserio made a surprising in-division trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

On March 6, the Texans shipped a 2026 seventh-round pick in exchange for WR Christian Kirk. He provides them with a veteran pass catcher who can line up all over the field.

On his Instagram account, Kirk posted a farewell message but also spoke about his future with the Texans. In that message, he made a promise to Houston's fanbase.

Kirk wrote, "My preparation for the upcoming season is already underway, and the only way from here is up. I'll be back stronger than ever, and I'm excited for this next chapter with the Texans. I promise it'll be my best one yet."

Tank Dell's status for the 2025 season is up in the air as he recently got surgery on his ACL. Stefon Diggs, who tore his ACL, is going to hit free agency.

Adding Kirk to the fold gives this passing attack another weapon. In seven seasons with the Arizona Cardinals and the Jaguars, Kirk has had 404 receptions for 5,176 receiving yards and 29 touchdowns. He missed the majority of the 2024 season with a broken collarbone and is ready to hit the ground running next season.

The Texans badly needed another WR, and getting a player of Kirk's caliber for just a seventh-round pick is a steal. He has one year left on his deal at $16.2 million.

With this being a contract year and being on a new team, Kirk is ready to put his best foot forward. Having this kind of approach highlights the type of player Kirk is, and he should fit smoothly into the Texans' offense.
