3. Dameon Pierce, RB
Dameon Pierce is one Texan who's fallen out of favor with each passing season.
The former 2022 fourth-round selection began his NFL career with 1,104 scrimmage yards and five touchdowns on 250 touches, putting him on pace to be the franchise's No. 1 running back. Since then, the Texans have brought in veteran RBs Devin Singletary and Joe Mixon in back-to-back offseason, rendering Pierce's role in the offense nearly obsolete.
Pierce barely made an impact on offense last season, seeing only 111 offensive snaps across 11 appearances. Although he managed to record 40 carries for 293 yards and two touchdowns, it's worth noting that the majority of that production came from a 19-176-1 stat line against the Tennessee Titans in Week 18 in a game that saw the Texans rest the majority of their top players.
Pierce is now entering the last year of his rookie contract, making it a good time for the Texans to think about cutting ties. A cut or trade at any point during the offseason would free up a roster spot and $1.1 million in savings, which GM Caserio can use on a player who can make an impact more consistently than the struggling RB.
Running back is one of the most easily replaceable positions in football, meaning the Texans shouldn't hesitate to cut ties with Pierce if it means upgrading the roster.
