Houston Texans: Top 10 greatest games in franchise history
Texans’ Greatest Games: Honorable Mentions
2003 Week 1 @ Dolphins – W 21-20
- Trailing 20-15 in the fourth quarter, it would take a pair of Kris Brown field goals, including the game-winner to beat the Dolphins 21-20 and start their second season much like the first with an opening week win.
2006 Week 16 vs. Colts – W 27-24
- Houston Texans fans would get an early Christmas gift by the team as the Houston Texans would knock off the Indianapolis Colts and Peyton Manning for the first time in franchise history thanks to another Kris Brown field goals. They also would get 153 rushing yards and two scores from former Heisman Trophy winner Ron Dayne.
2012 Week 12 @ Lions – W 34-31 (OT)
- On Thanksgiving in Detroit, the Texans would battle the Lions into overtime. Both teams would miss field goals before the Texans would finally get the overtime winner on a Shayne Graham field goal. There was also controversy on a touchdown by Justin Forsett that the Texans got away with within this affair.
2013 Week 1 @ Chargers – W 31-28
- Somehow, someway, the Texans overcame a 28-7 deficit in the third quarter against the Chargers to tie the game. This would include a pick-six from Brian Cushing that tied the game before Randy Bullock ended the contest in the final seconds. That would be one of two highlights for the season before the rug was pulled.
2019 Week 6 @ Chiefs – W 31-24
- Round 1 of the Watson-Mahomes war went to the Texans as Watson would lead Houston to a comeback from 17-3 down in the first quarter before knocking off the Chiefs 31-24. Watson finished with one touchdown pass and two INTs, but it was his one-yard rush that proved to be the difference. Round 2 did go to Mahomes. So Round 3 could be an interesting round. We only hope that regardless the result, rounds four and beyond will have a few Texan wins.
