The NFL Draft is complete for the Houston Texans and it’s now time talk about the signings of the unsung heroes, the UDFAs. Who else is joining the team?

The Houston Texans have completed the NFL Draft for the upcoming 2020 season and ended up with just five picks with the rest of them traded away to upgrade the level of talent they’d be bringing in from the collegiate ranks.

Let’s recap who the Houston Texans have drafted, shall we?  The team has brought in Ross Blacklock (second round), Jonathan Greenard (third round), Charlie Heck (third round), John Reid (fourth round) and Isaiah Coulter (fifth round).

It was an action-packed string of three days even with us all confined to our homes as we all do our part to fight this global pandemic.  There has been significant talent brought in, a Bill O’Brien meltdown about a failed trade and then a Day 3 swap with the Los Angeles Rams to allow them to move up their positioning.

What more can you ask for?  Well, for starters, let’s hope this group pans out but I’m positive the top-end will be asked to contribute mightily after this season so this will be more an apprenticeship for them as O’Brien continues to reiterate this will be a year for the veterans.

But now it’s time to recognize the unsung heroes, the undrafted free agents, the guys that weren’t

among the list of 255 prospects that were taken this year and will have to fight tooth and nail to get themselves a roster spot.  Many are successful at doing so but even more are not so we’ll see how things pan out.

The most notable UDFA’s from the 2019 class that are still with the team are the explosive yet speedy running back Karan Higdon and the encouraging yet developing linebacker Ira Savage-Lewis.

So who has been signed this season?

Patrick Starr of State of the Texans reports on the guys that the team will bring in and sign them to a deal although keep in mind that this list is unofficial until the team makes the announcement.

Starr also indicates that it may be a small class this year with O’Brien’s emphasis on veterans amid the COVID-19 pandemic, wanting to keep the roster to around 85 players through training camp.

In addition, the Chron’s Aaron Wilson’s reporting was used for this list as well.

This list will update as the news comes in of fresh signings.

Do you recognize any of these names?  They could be your son, brother, cousin, best friend, husband or boyfriend!  Who are they?

Let’s take a look at the list:

Cordel Iwuagwu, OG, TCU

Dylan Stapleton, TE, James Madison

Scottie Phillips, RB, Ole Miss

Tyler Simmons, WR, Georgia

Jamir Jones, ILB, Notre Dame

Auzoyah Alufohai, DT, West Georgia
