The Houston Roughnecks P.J. Walker and Cam Phillips have electrified the XFL to open up the season. Let’s take a look at the numbers this duo has put up.

The Houston Roughnecks have taken the XFL by storm, opening up the season with a 2-0 record led by the dynamic duo of quarterback P.J. Walker and wide receiver Cam Phillips.

Walker, who played his college ball at Temple under newly named Panthers head coach Matt Rhule, and Phillips, who is the Virginia Tech all-time leader in receptions and receiving yards,  have fit perfectly into head coach June Jone’s pass-first offense.

Walker, a mobile quarterback who has the ability to use his legs to extend plays, and Phillips, who has great hands and is a deep threat, have forged a strong connection early on in the season. The two have shown great chemistry as nearly 28 percent of Walker’s completions have been to Phillips.

Of Walker’s 442 passing yards and seven passing touchdowns, Phillips has accounted for 130 of

those yards and four of those touchdowns. Even though the season is only two weeks old, it’s safe to say that Phillips is and will continue to be Walker’s go-to man.

Along with putting up huge numbers to open up the season, Walker and Phillips have swept the XFL’s weekly awards. Walker won the inaugural XFL Star of the Week for throwing for 272 yards and four touchdowns in Week One. Phillips followed in Walker’s footsteps in Week Two with eight receptions for 63 yards and three touchdowns to win Week Two’s XFL Star of the Week.

If this duo continues to stay on the same page throughout the season then there is no telling what kind of numbers they will put up and there is no doubt that the Roughnecks will continue to have one if the best and explosive offenses in the league.

Walker and Phillips will look to build on their early-season success on Saturday afternoon when the Roughnecks take on the Tampa Bay Vipers.
