Houston Texans: Tytus Howard’s status against the Pats remains uncertain
Houston Texans offensive lineman Tytus Howard could be out against the Pats this Sunday, marking his struggle with injuries this season. What’s the latest?
We’re almost in the thick of it Houston Texans fans, the showdown that we’ve all been waiting for tonight will descend upon us tomorrow night. The Houston Texans will be facing the New England Patriots once again and they’ll have another attempt to try to beat one of the greatest dynasties in professional sports history.
It will be an intense quarterback battle between Deshaun Watson and Tom Brady but I honestly think that the bigger storyline will be Bill O’Brien and Bill Belichick duking it out on the sidelines with their play-calling.
Alas, once again, O’Brien will get to face his mentor once again and I’m sure nothing wouldn’t make him more delighted to beat him for the first time of his career. I know he savors all the wins he gets — he has even accentuated how hard it is to win in the NFL — but getting one over the Pats would be sweetest in his six seasons of coaching professional football.
This would also the biggest win of the season — let alone the O’Brien era — if they’re able to pull it off in front of the bright lights, set on a prime-time, blockbuster-type stage at NRG Stadium.
They have the components this time around to get the job done, although they have a few holes, what team doesn’t? The Pats are still adjusting to life without Rob Gronkowski and they’ve been able to reel off wins just fine.
It’s all about the guys that are with you on the field and it’s truly the next man up. Luckily, for the Houston Texans, depth is something they’re a lot stronger with this season at most positions. There were concerns about this with the secondary but the recent moves to bring Gareon Conley and Vernon Hargreaves in has helped while Bradley Roby recuperates from his serious hamstring injury. offensive lineman Tytus Howard has been ruled as doubtful against the Pats. He has sustained a knee injury but there’s no specifics on if it was the same leg where he had a MCL sprain against the Kansas City Chiefs back Week 6.
Howard missed two games as a result and it’s looking highly unlikely that he won’t be available tomorrow night.
Backups Chris Clark and Roderick Johnson are the prime candidates to start in his stead and both will likely get considerable playing time regardless of who gets the nod to start.
But despite the constant battle Howard has had with any given malady that he’d have, he has still managed to appear in eight games this season, which is remarkable.
The Houston Texans‘ 2019 first-round pick out of Alabama State has been quite solid in being able to protect Watson as he learns on the fly as a starter on how to block at the professional level.
I’m hoping for the best but if he has to sit out, I understand, I know they can forge ahead the best they can without him.
Let’s get it done and nab this win — go Houston Texans!
