Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson has a new backup for his gig and it’s none other than Matthew McConaughey. What’s going on? Let’s look.

Houston Texans fans — our team was able to successfully get a win over the Oakland Raiders this past Sunday.  Although things looked quite murky in regards to the outcome even in the final minutes of the game, our team prevailed to get their fifth win of the season.

But throughout the game, one should’ve felt that the Houston Texans were going to come out the victor.  The Raiders continuously kept shooting themselves in the foot with the amount of penalties that they’d amass.

This put the Houston Texans in great field position so that they’d be able to conquer and destroy their opponent to which they ultimately did.

How will the Houston Texans fare against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London this Sunday?  I think they’ll have a great shot but they will be challenged just like any other matchup.  But for what it’s worth our team should be favored — even marginally — as they take the field at Wembley Stadium Sunday afternoon.

So while they’re gearing up for that, Deshaun Watson had an important gig for tonight’s Game 7 World Series bout for all the marbles between the Houston Astros and the Washington Nationals.

Watson was scheduled to officially yelp out “play ball,” the infamous phrase fans hear at the start of each game.

However, he has canceled his appearance because of an injury that he suffered to his eye late in

the game Sunday.  Watson was avoided immense pressure by the Raiders’ defense but still pulled a rabbit out of the hat to throw a touchdown pass to Darren Fells.  Watson fell to the ground and Arden Key‘s foot somehow got in his facemask, hitting him in the eye.

While the Raiders had the ball, Watson was being examined in the medical tent extensively — especially for a concussion — but he was cleared to return, making a few short passes and handoffs to get the first down and kneel his to another win on the season.

Nonetheless, as per the Chron’s Aaron Wilson, his eye is still red and swollen.  The exposure to the bright lights of the ballpark could have a negative effect on his recovery as he’s expected to be available to start this week.  He did practice today.

Who’s his backup?

He’s got a hell of a one in the talented Texas’ actor Matthew McConaughey as he will get to belt out the phrase likely with his signature “hey, hey, hey,” salutation along with it.  It’ll be interesting and the Houston Astros chose a good follow up to Watson.

Next. Texans: The arrival of Gareon Conley has had mixed results. dark

Regardless, the most important thing is that Watson gets back to full health and that the Astros go out and win Game 7 tonight for the second title in three seasons.

Wouldn’t that be nice?

Both could possibly happen so let’s get it — go Houston Texans!
