because you have Minnesota and Cleveland competing hard in the AL Central and there about four or five games back from us for the second spot.

Sure, we would like to be first in the AL. But the Astros won the World Series when we weren’t the top seed in the American League. With how the postseason works, teams would have to have breaks go their way to win.

As far as August is concerned, what doesn’t kill us only makes us stronger they say. We’ve seen the trend, especially over the past two years where a tough August leads to a strong September finish. We can only hope that the trend continues. Frustrated as we are now, I don’t think any of us are worried about finding other things to do in October besides wearing orange and root for our Astros.
