The Houston Texans’ season is underway and there will be plenty of storylines to keep an eye on. Here are five things to watch in 2019.

After months of waiting, the Houston Texans are back in training camp and getting ready for their first matchup of the preseason with the Green Bay Packers up at Lambeau Field next Thursday, Aug. 8. Houston is hot in the summertime and the only thing that may be hotter are the position battles currently going on in camp. At what positions are the battles the hottest and who could be the surprise name during the preseason? Take a look.

The Wild Card game back Jan. 5 was the last day the Houston Texans took the field for a game and for most Houston Texans fans that game was forgettable. The Houston Texans were absolutely embarrassed by the Indianapolis Colts in a 21-7 beatdown at NRG Stadium. The score doesn’t do justice, the team was outplayed in every way possible and it was a day that Deshaun Watson would love to forget too.

Since January, the Houston Texans not been quiet in the news and it’s for the wrong reasons. The team has yet to sign OLB/DE Jadeveon Clowney to a contract extension and in June the Houston Texans shocked the football world when they fired GM Brian Gaine in his second year on the job.

After Gaine was fired, the Houston Texans started to pursuit Nick Caserio from the Patriots to fill the GM role. However, the Pats struck down the Houston Texans with tampering charges. In result, the Texans pulled out of the Caserio race (for now) and will enter the season with no GM in place.

On Thursday the team finally took the field and kicked off their 2019 campaign. Here are the 5 things to be on the lookout for during this season.
