Houston Rockets: James Harden has a gift for fans next season
Houston Rockets guard James Harden has something brewing in the lab and it will be interesting to see how it pans out next season. What will it be?
The Houston Rockets are back in the fray among the conversation of who will be contenders for the NBA championship. With an offseason that looked like things were headed in the direction of returning most of the roster back without making many changes, Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey did a 360-degree return on all of us.
He orchestrated the trade heard around the world — flipping Chris Paul for Russell Westbrook with four future first-round picks that will be headed to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Two picks will be swaps so it’s awesome that the team will still be able to have flexibility going all the way through the year 2026.
So you know what happened? The Houston Rockets were able to improve their roster, yet still retain key players. CP3 was the known casualty but with Clint Capela, Eric Gordon and P.J. Tucker still on the roster, there will be some continuity with three players familiar with the system that Mike D’Antoni has installed for the past three seasons.
Westbrook will have to get up to speed but it won’t take him long as this fast-paced offense that often retreats to isolation plays will fit seamlessly into his playing style.
But anyway, James Harden has something to tell us about what he’s got brewing the in the lab for the offseason and we’re all anxious to find out what it is.
We know that his step-back three is his signature move but he’s looking to build off of that for next season.
Here’s what he told a young fan at an appearance he made promoting his Adidas’ products, to which he’s currently on a 10-year, $200 million endorsement deal, via The Athletic’s Kelly Iko:

Doncic is not too far being him in terms of being prolific with such a deadly weapon.
This shot is hard to officiate as well as what I like to call the Harden “bump” where he allows the contact to come to him as he driving to the basket, usually from up top. Refs have to especially careful on how they officiate him as his moves are so svelte, it’s hard to tell if it’s a travel or something actually legal for him to do.
Nonetheless, I know it’s going to be a great move and I think the Houston Rockets — as well as us onlookers — will benefit as we’ll be seeing something entirely innovative, something you want to see out of your franchise player.
