Trayveon Williams, RB, Texas A&M

Currently, the Houston Texans have two spots at the running back position filled with two dynamic players. Lamar Miller can be extremely electric and fast but is starting to get older and his contract is coming to a close. D’Onta Foreman is big and strong but has been hampered by an Achilles injury so far in his career.

In today’s NFL, teams need a stable of at least three running backs to have an effective rushing attack. Last year, that third guy was Alfred Blue. He wasn’t great and is now on the Jaguars. Now, the Texans have a chance to add a dynamic third back with tremendous value on Day 3 of the draft.

Trayveon Williams would fit the bill. He’s a dynamic running back, one of the best Texas A&M has ever seen, he has the single-season rushing record against top-notch SEC West defenses. He’s also got great third down ability with a willingness to block anybody that makes it through the line and an ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. The only question is will he be there when the Texans are on the clock.

Jalin Moore, RB, Appalachian State

If the Houston Texans cannot snag Williams, which may be very likely, they can look elsewhere to find that third running back to complement Miller and Foreman. Jalin Moore is a small school guy with good vision, size, athleticism, and pass blocking. He’ll need to improve his receiving ability but has shown some promise in that regard.
