Ryan Cummings, G, Salt Lake Stallions

Ryan Cummings was a four year contributor and multi-year starter at the University of Wyoming. He had some injury and illness issues that plagued him towards the end of his career but, he spent the majority of it protecting future top 10 pick Josh Allen.

Cummings went undrafted in 2017 but he was actually extended a camp invite by the Houston Texans. His switch from tackle to guard his senior year likely helped his cause for the NFL because of his size, 6’5″ and 320 lbs, and athletic profile project better at guard.

The Stallions guard showed off his collegiate tackle experience as a guard in the AAF and looked good on the move in the run game. He’s also still only 22 years old. The Athletic’s Arif Hasan called him (subscription required) “the best prospective offensive lineman in the league.”

The Houston Texans badly need offensive line help, this much is known. The team added two guards last season in Zach Fulton and Senio Kelemete but neither were particularly good. So, there should be some competition and why not add one of the best guards from the AAF to stimulate that conversation.
