uan Thornhill, S/CB, Virginia

Juan Thornhill is a four year contributor and three year starter at the University of Virginia. He began his ascension to fame due to his dunking highlights as a high schooler on the basketball court. He’s now turned into a very good football the Houston Texans might want to take a long look at.

More from House of Houston

Thornhill began his career at Virginia as a cornerback and he was pretty decent there before beginning his transition further back to safety. He made the full time transition to safety this past season and showed some of his best football yet.

He brings great instincts and ball skills to the safety position from his time as a corner. In his three years at Virginia, Thornhill collected 13 interceptions, including six this past season. His size, speed, and natural coverage skills would also him to play as a lone deep man or match up one-on-one with a receiver.

Thornhill could actually have the opposite trajectory of Hal when it’s all said and done. He could get drafted pretty early, 2nd or 3rd round, and move from safety to corner if teams wanted to try to capitalize on his coverage and ball skills.

Thornhill is a pretty complete prospect for a guy that doesn’t necessarily have a definitive position coming out of college. He can do a lot and will likely thrive and shine in a defined role in the NFL. The Houston Texans coulddraft him and develop him either as a safety or corner with time to acclimate to make he shines in the NFL.
