Tre Boston, S, Arizona Cardinals

Another guy the Houston Texans could take a look at is current free agent Tre Boston. He has gone through free agency twice now, this being his third in as many years. Typically, guys that receive one year deal after one year deal aren’t that good of players but, Boston is.

He is a very good safety in the league with fairly high end, starting-caliber play under his belt and in his future. Yet, for some reason, he gets to watch his peers sign before him time and time again. The first time, he was waived in May and could only land a one year, $900,000 deal with the Chargers. Last year, he was signed fairly late and only got a one year, $1.5 million deal in spite of having a breakout season.

In the five years he’s been in the league, Boston has had 13 interceptions, five over three years in Carolina, five in one year in Los Angeles, and then three last year in Arizona. Coincidentally, Hal also had 13 interceptions in the five years of his career.

If Andre Dillard isn't available, the Texans should trade back. light. More

Boston has also had a total of 16 pass breakups in his career to go with a total of 262 tackles in his career, including 79 each of the past two years. Boston is an all-around safety with good size, 6’1′ and 205 lbs, that can affect all facets of the game on the defensive side of the ball.

As his past two contracts have shown, he likely won’t cost too much to find a new home. Which, salary-wise, would be a good fit as a great third safety. Teaming up Boston with Reid and Gipson would allow the Houston Texans to trot three starting-caliber safeties on to the field to take away both the running and passing game.
