Houston Texans Rumors: Five bold trades the team needs to explore
By T.A. Mock
The Houston Texans have made several free agency acquisitions so it could be time to turn to the trade market. Here are five bold trades they could make.
The NFL offseason has been in full swing for a while now but moves have only been able to be “official” for a few days now. Let me tell you, this has already been one of the most fun, exciting offseasons in recent memory.
Two of the top five receivers in the NFL, Odell Beckham Jr. and Antonio Brown, were traded to new times after being offensive focal points for their previous teams for years. Guys are signing record-breaking contracts. It’s been an incredible whirlwind so far.
The Houston Texans have partaken early this offseason, though not the splash additions many fans were hoping. To get things started, the tendered Jadeveon Clowney on a non-exclusive franchise tag, meaning other teams can negotiate and even sign him to a deal but the Texans have matching rights or could receive two first-round picks from the signing team.
Following that, the Texans jumped out into the secondary market to make additions and get replacements for Tyrann Mathieu and Kareem Jackson, who went to the AFC West to the Chiefs and Browns, respectively.
First, they inked free safety Tashaun Gipson to a three-year deal then, the added two corners in Bradley Roby and Briean Boddy-Calhoun. That’s it so far but the secondary is likely finished with free agent acquisitions while other positions could still be targeted.
But, after these first few free agent additions, the Houston Texans could decide to turn to the trade market to address other spots in different avenues. The trade block is dicey to predict because most guys are available but it has to be for the right price. Regardless, guys can be had and so, let’s take a look at five bold trades the team can make in the coming weeks.
