Houston Astros Rumors: Predicting the Opening Day 25 man roster
By T.A. Mock
Closer: Roberto Osuna
The Houston Astros constructed a swap to land Roberto Osuna last year approaching the trade deadline. Osuna is a unique, dominant closer with a vast pitch arsenal. Having him at the back end of the bullpen all year long will help create one of the best ‘pens in all of baseball.
Setup Men: yan Pressly, Hector Rondon

This is where a full year of Osuna really begins to strengthen the team. Hector Rondon rocked the closer spot for a chunk of last year but having his powerful arm in a setup role will be a major boon for this team. Ryan Pressly might have the best curveball in baseball. He’ll look to have a great first full year in an Astros uniform.
Middle Relievers: Chris Devenski, Will Harris, Reymin Guduan
Chris Devenski had an awful 2018 plagued by injuries. He seems to be fully healthy and ready to get back to his high leverage role in 2019. Will Harris has been a reliable arm for the team forever and will continue to be so this year. The surprise here is Reymin Guduan, he was never a favorite for the job but after a great Spring, the dominant lefty has earned a bullpen role to start the season.
Long Relievers: Josh James
The last bullpen spot will go to Josh James. He should be very close, if not all the way, to being back from his quad injury by the time the regular season hits. So, he’ll lose out on the starting role because he won’t be able to get fully stretched out. However, he could be dominant in a long relief role for 2019 with the capabilities to move back into the rotation later on.
All in all, you likely knew the majority of the Houston Astros Opening Day 25 man roster. There weren’t many holes and weren’t many guys to choose from. However, this team should be highly competitive for 2019.
