Trevor Siemian, Minnesota Vikings

Another option for the Houston Texans is a guy who has thrived both as a backup and as a starter. Okay, maybe thrived as a starter is strong language for Trevor Siemian but for his career, he has a winning record as a starter at 13-11 over a two-year span.

Siemian was thrust into a starting role for the Broncos after it was determined that Paxton Lynch would not be an adequate starting quarterback during his rookie season. Siemian actually played very well in a game manager type role and won 8 games out of 14 for the Broncos.

He continued his hold on the starting job into the 2017 season but after 10 games of .500 ball, he fell out of favor and was eventually placed on the IR. But, during his time with the Broncos, he threw for over 5,000 yards and had 30 touchdowns in 24 games. Not bad production at all.

Siemian didn’t play much behind Kirk Cousins last season in Minnesota but he could be a very capable backup quarterback for the Houston Texans. He has the same size as Watson and is fairly athletic so the offense wouldn’t have to be changed much if he needed to play. Siemian could wind up being a very possible option down the road and could adequately fill in for Watson if need be.
