MLB is having marketing issues and has been called no fun. In order to fix this, Houston Astros star, lex Bregman should become a face of the MLB. Here’s why.

The news of the current MLB offseason is… well… not quite as bright and shining as our expectations of the 2019 season. With Manny Machado signing with the Padres, Bryce Harper is the lone big name free agent yet to be signed. At least nearly half of the current franchises are expected to not be in contention and commissioner Rob Manfred is experimenting with the pace of play by installing a pitching clock.

None of this should be a major concern for the Houston Astros, who are vying for another go at the World Series. But perhaps, the Astros can be a solution to the problem. We’ve heard from Justin Verlander talk about his frustrations with teams not being competitive and the free agent market absolutely sucking. If anything, MLB needs to listen to Verlander, who has been an open critic to the league’s handling of this whole drama.

But then again, that’s just one small part of the problem MLB has. We can argue how much the pace of play could be or won’t be ruined by Commissioner Manfred. People will sit and watch teams not taking any interest contending for championships at this moment. Plus, we’re still waiting to see where Harper, Machado, along with Marwin Gonzalez and Dallas Keuchel. Yet, we have another issue at hand.

You may remember at the All-Star Game last season when commissioner Manfred tried to blame MLB’s faults on Mike Trout’s personality?  Well, that got a lot of heat because Trout is arguably the best in the game today. His talent and skills are off the charts. He’s been an MVP, All-Star, and has been widely picked as the best player in the game for six times. But there’s a problem. MLB tries to market him so much that he doesn’t have any interest in doing some things they want him to do. Trout has appeared in commercials and was on the cover of a video game once. Yet, MLB’s biggest asset is someone that perhaps doesn’t want to be viewed as a superstar.

Obviously, that was total disrespect for one of the best players in the game. Trout does have a right to be who he is and that’s totally ok. But if MLB wants to market somebody, they need to go elsewhere. Of course, Harper is always an option and he has been very much marketed to the masses. Right now, he’s caught in a crossfire of teams wanting and not even bothering spending on him. Other players who have marketed widely these days include Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Nolan Arenado, Francisco Lindor, and yes, even Jose Altuve.

However, MLB has to take bigger steps to make the game great again. Somebody else has to carry the torch of trying to be the sparkplug in making fans enjoy the game again. That someone is an Astro. We all know who it is. It’s Alex Bregman.

It’s crazy writing this because we know of Bregman’s personality. This isn’t to let you guys know why Bregman should be. It’s more about MLB finding a reason why they should use the Houston Astros star to be the face of baseball. We got three reasons for them to use him.
