Matt Paradis, C, Denver Broncos

Matt Paradis was selected in the 6th round of the 2014 draft. He spent his first year as a pro on the Broncos practice squad. Then, in the 2015 offseason, he balled out and showed what he was made of and won the starting center job to start the season.

Since then, the 6’3″ 300 lbs center started every game he was healthy for, 57 games in a row until he became injured halfway through the 2018 season. Paradis was the definition of consistency and productivity for the Broncos for the past four years.

Paradis is coming off of injury, which does make him a bit of a risk but the Houston Texans do need help all along the offensive line. Center is probably their most secure spot but Nick Martin struggled this past season. He was a good pass blocker but an abysmal run blocker.

The Texans could target Paradis to get that consistency and veteran leadership at the center position and let Martin move to guard or be a high-quality backup. Paradis made just under $3 million last year and could make around double that in 2019.

Another option: Mitch Morse, C, Kansas City Chiefs

The Houston Texans could opt for a little more versatility with their offensive line signing and go for a guy like Mitch Morse. Morse was a tackle in college before the Chiefs selected him in the second round and moved him to center.

He, like Paradis, ended the season injured but is slated for a big pay bump in 2019. Morse could take over the center spot or play guard or maybe even tackle for the Texans. He has value and experience blocking for a young quarterback.
