Ronald Darby, CB, Philadelphia Eagles

One of the areas the Houston Texans need to improve in is their pass coverage. Jackson and Johnathan Joseph had some good games this past season but neither were elite as cornerbacks. Each got exposed and really can’t hang with number one receivers on their own.

As the roster stands, Joseph and Kevin Johnson are slated to be the top two corners on the roster. The Texans really need to draft an offensive lineman with their first round pick so, they should turn to the free agent market to address the cornerback position. That’s where Ronald Darby comes into play.

Darby was a second round pick by the Bills and played two years there until they traded him to the Eagles and he spent two years there. Darby has blazing speed and a knack for the ball. He is also a willing tackler. He’s missed some games due to injury the past two years but has played extremely well when on the field, intercepting 4 passes and deflecting 21 more in just 17 games.

He should be able to come into this defense and be the number one corner. Darby could be had on a 4 or 5 year deal worth $11-$13 million a year. That’s well worth the money as Darby would vastly improve the Texans poor pass coverage.

Another option: Bradley Roby, CB, Denver Broncos

The Houston Texans could also consider Bradly Roby out of Denver. Roby was a first round pick back in 2014 and had immense potential. He had time to learn and develop behind Chris Harris and Aqib Talib for the first few years of his career.

The Broncos picked up his option for 2018 and he was a full-time starter. Unfortunately, it didn’t go well for Roby in his walk year. Roby still has traits that could translate into number one corner material. He could be had for less than $10 million a year and could be a bargin.
