The Houston Texans have spots to fix on their roster. There are plenty of options on the open market. Let’s take a look at five free agents to target.

The Houston Texans are entering their second offseason under the guidance of general manager Brian Gaine. Gaine took over about a year ago and was given a decent team but didn’t have a lot of assets to improve the team.

The Texans opted to fix the quarterback position in 2017 when they shipped Brock Osweiler off to the Browns and gave them a second round pick to take on his salary. Then, they traded up in the draft for two firsts and a third for the right to draft Deshaun Watson.

All in all, those weren’t bad decisions as the team is set up for success for the next decade with Watson at the helm. But, that left Gaine without a ton of draft picks. He did, however, have some cap space to spend but the team ended up not spending very much of it because they knew what was coming up.

Currently, the Houston Texans have about $74 million in cap space to fill holes on the roster. That number could grow to upwards of $90 million if the team opts to release some players with cap numbers that don’t match their production.

The Texans have their own free agents, like Jadeveon Clowney, Tyrann Mathieu, and Kareem Jackson to think of this offseason but they should also look externally to fill some holes. So, let’s take a look at five players the team should be targeting this offseason in free agency.
