One of them is drafting older players with experience. It’s harder to find guys with upside this late in the draft but, with Daylon Mack, the Texans could do a little bit of both. Mack is a fourth-year senior out of Texas A&M and has gotten consistent playing time since his freshman year but he hasn’t really tapped into the potential that made him a five-star recruit out of high school.
He wound up in the dog house several times throughout his career with motor and effort but he seemed to put some of that beyond him in his senior year playing for a new coaching staff. He had the best year of his career by far and paired with his All-Star game play, he has elevated his draft stock some.
Mack can be extremely explosive off of the line that can result in lots of tackles for loss and even sacks. The Texans could be losing quite a few pieces along their defensive line this offseason and the draft could be a great place to replenish it, Mack would definitely help with that.
