After repeatedly addressing needs with value throughout their first five picks of the draft, the Houston Texans can now turn to some wants and splurge a little bit. Currently, the team has Lamar Miller atop the running back depth chart with a now healthy D’Onta Foreman behind him.

Miller had his best year as a Texan this past season, though, that isn’t saying much. He had some really good games where he earned his big contract then he had others that make you cringe. Foreman is still getting back to football shape after his 2017 Achilles injury so, the Texans could use an influx of talent at the running back position.

Rodney Anderson shouldn’t be around in the sixth round of the draft based off talent alone. However, there is more to evaluate than talent. Injuries are a key thing that evaluators look at in the draft and Anderson has had a slew of them, including a season-ending one this past season.

But, now is the time to take a risk on a guy like Anderson. The Katy, Texas product compares favorably to a former star Texans running back who fell out of the draft due to injuries, Arian Foster. He has an upright running style but makes decisive cuts. Anderson can impact every aspect of the game from receiving to blocking. The depth chart allows them to take on Anderson and hope his health pans out better in the pros.
