Houston Texans Rumors: Complete seven-round Mock Draft 1.0
By T.A. Mock
Did you know the Houston Texans need offensive line help? Oh, you didn’t? Well, they do. Badly. Deshaun Watson was sacked a league-leading 62 times in 2018. That gives flashbacks of the David Carr days with that porous offensive line.
Julie’n Davenport showed flashes of being a solid left tackle but struggled more often than not. Last year’s third round pick Martinas Rankin sort of attempted to fill the role but lost out quickly. So, left tackle is an obvious hole. Enter Andre Dillard.
Dillard has spent the past couple of months shooting up draft boards. Many discounted him because he played for Mike Leach in a spread out, Air Raid offense. Historically, offensive linemen have struggled to come out of this system and be successful immediately.
Dillard, however, is different. He has excellent technique and sound fundamentals that have allowed him to have tremendous success in the PNC. He is extremely athletic which should mesh well with Watson’s style of play. He is quick out of his stance and has powerful hands. Dillard would be a plug and play left tackle for the Texans.
