You may be surprised to see Chester Pitts on the list for the best Texans of all-time. After all, he was a part of those horrendous offensive lines that set records in a bad way, ruining any shot at David Carr becoming a decent quarterback.

That being said, Pitts deserves this spot in spite of all that. Pitts was a solid offensive lineman for eight years for the Texans and was a stalwart through some really rough years. To start his career out of San Diego State, he spent the first couple of years at left tackle.

After that, he moved inside to left guard. That’s really when he came into his own as a pro football player. He started 114 out of 114 games and never missed a single game until 2009 when a knee injury ended his season. The team moved on from him in the wake of that injury.

All of this is particularly impressive, as his high school did not have a football team. So the first time he played the sport was as a walk-on his freshman year at San Diego State. Pitts turned into a high-caliber guard that held the team together for a better part of a decade. He still lives in Houston and is a staple around the team and in the city.
