Houston Texans: Top 30 players in franchise history

During the 2008 offseason, the Texans orchestrated a sign-and-trade with the Denver Broncos for a sixth-round pick. Chris Myers, at that time, was coming off his first and only season as a starter after being drafted in sixth round of the 2005 NFL Draft out of Miami.
This was a low-risk, inconsequential move. Well, until it wasn’t. All that Chris Myers did was start every single game for the seven years for the Texans. Yup, 16 out of 16 games for seven-straight years. That’s 112 games in a row. So much for an inconsequential move.
During those seven years, Myers was able to earn two Pro Bowl selections in back-to-back seasons in 2011 and 2012. Myers was the perfect fit for the Texans and Gary Kubiak’s zone blocking scheme.
Myers excelled in run blocking, as he was big enough, yet still had a ton of agility to be able to pull and reach blockers. He was also a really good pass blocker. Overall, Myers graded out at very good or elite in six of his seven seasons as a Texan. Unfortunately, he was cut due to the youth movement when Bill O’Brien took over in 2015.
