The Houston secondary needed bolstering heading into the 2010 offseason. So, the Texans selected Kareem Jackson with the 20th pick in the draft to help fix the backend of their defense. Jackson, unfortunately, did not do a great job of this the first couple years of his career.

His rookie showed that he wasn’t quite up to snuff for the NFL just yet and he struggled in every aspect of the game. He had two interceptions, but that was about it for the good stuff. His second year in the league saw him begin to develop, especially in run defense, which has become what he is most famous for.

He broke out in his third year in the league, in 2013. Jackson showed marked improvement in coverage, while continuing to dominate in the run game. The future looked bright following that 2013 season.

The Texans awarded him with a new contract. Since then, there have been some ups and downs to his career but all in all, Jackson has been indispensable to the Texans secondary. He, like Jadeveon Clowney, will be a free agent this offseason, so it will be interesting to see if continues his legacy in Houston or will he have to sign elsewhere.
