The Texans had one of the league’s most vaunted rushing attacks from 2006 to 2010. A big reason for that is the man you see above, Vonta Leach. He was one of the best blocking fullbacks the modern NFL has seen.

Leach helped guys like Ron Dayne, Ahmad Green and Steve Slaton have quality seasons. By the time Arian Foster rolled around, they took things to a whole other level. To be sure, Foster is a man in and of himself, but there is an argument that Leach allowed Foster to become the running back he became.

Leach wound up becoming a three-time Pro Bowler in his career, though, two of them came with the Baltimore Ravens and only one in Houston. He was one of the best fullbacks in the game for nearly a decade and one of the last great ones before the game edged them out.

On top of being a phenomenal blocker, Leach could also catch the ball pretty well. He was particularly adept at throwing a nice cheap and leaking out into the flat as a dump-off option for the quarterback. He had 71 receptions for 518 yards and four touchdowns. He also added three carries for three yards and two touchdowns. Talk about efficient.
