Houston Texans: Top 30 players in franchise history

Domanick Williams, formerly Davis, was the first great running back the Texans ever had. Unfortunately, Williams career was cut short due to an injury in 2005. But before that, he was a stud of a running back and guy the team could lean on.
Williams has the first 1,000-yard rushing season in Texans franchise history. He did it in his rookie year as a former fourth-round pick out of LSU. He was later named to the All-Rookie team in that 2003 season.
Williams went on to have a second consecutive 1,000-yard rushing season in 2004. 2004 was actually his best year, as he approached 2,000 yards from scrimmage. In 2005, he was more than on pace to have a third consecutive 1,000-yard season but injuries after 11 games made him fall short.
All in all, about 3,200 rushing yards, 1,300 receiving yards and 28 total touchdowns is pretty good for just three years in the NFL. That ‘what-if’ factor is huge with Williams’ Houston legacy, but there is no doubt he was the first great Texans running back.
