Houston Texans: Top 30 players in franchise history

Glover Quin was the first of the Texans’ experiments with defensive backs. The team selected him in the fourth round out of New Mexico in 2009 as a cornerback. He started 12 games and played in 15 that rookie year. He stayed at corner and started all 16 in 2010, but things weren’t quite working out.
In the offseason prior to the 2011 season, the Texans migrated Quin to safety and his career took off. He quickly became a force to be reckoned with as a safety. He could play center field and track the ball exceptionally well, but also wasn’t afraid of laying the lumber.
Quin ascended up the NFL safety rankings and gained respect around the league. He was always a threat for a turnover, an effective blitz or a game-saving tackle. During his four years as a Texan, he generated eight turnovers.
Unfortunately, the Detroit Lions were willing to pay the man more in free agency after the 2012 season. Quin might have departed Houston, but he has remained with the Lions ever since. He is still considered a top safety in the league heading into the 2019 season.
