Wayne Ellington, SG, Pheonix Suns

Wayne Ellington has been a premier three-point shooter in the NBA for a while now. The past couple of years he has been playing his craft in Miami for the Heat. However, the Heat decided he didn’t fit in their plans any longer and they traded him to the Suns.

He, along with Tyler Johnson, was sent to Pheonix in exchange for former Houston Rockets power forward, Ryan Anderson. Miami gets some salary cap relief while Pheonix actually gets a point guard for the first time in a while.

Ellington, on the other hand, seems destined for a buyout as his talents will be better plied on a contender than a tanking team like the Suns. Ellington’s stock has been down a little this season after a prolonged slow start which is why he was likely included in this deal.

However, Ellington should get to pick his team sooner rather than later. The Houston Rockets could always use another guy like Ellington to drive up their offensive gameplan. The Rockets could always use more three-point shooters to surround their core with.

If Ellington can rebound his offensive value on a contender that makes a deep playoff run, he could parlay himself into a decent chunk of change in the offseason. Ellington wouldn’t have a huge role in Houston but he’d have a role and would allow the team to ride the hot hand on offense even more.
