Nasir Adderley, S, Delaware

Nasir Adderley had about as opposite of a story like the one I mentioned earlier about Mack. He was not highly recruited, didn’t have too many offers as a two-star recruit and wound up playing ball at Delaware. He began his career there at cornerback but moved to safety for the final two years of his collegiate career.

Adderley isn’t huge but, he has very good size, standing just under 6’0″ and weighing in a few pounds under 200 lbs. He also has tremendous range with true sideline-to-sideline ability that enables him to help out anywhere on the field.

Adderley doesn’t really have any glaring weakness to his game which is truly remarkable coming from a smaller school. He is a top-notch, fluid athlete, possessing short area quickness and agility to pair with long speed. He is also an extremely willing and physical tackler. He takes on blocks like a linebacker and can get off of them with ease. He has a nose to always be around the football.

All of this showed up at the Senior Bowl as he continued to impress scouts and media alike, a very challenging thing to do. He showed off ball skills at the Senior Bowl that were on display at Delaware. He knows when to go for the interception and simply when to bat the ball down.

He answered the big question for all small schools guys at the Senior Bowl by showing extremely well against a higher level of competition. The Houston Texans don’t need another safety as Justin Reid played very well last year, Andre Hal will be back for a full season, and Tyrann Mathieu will likely be brought back but Adderley, like those three guys above, has positional versatility and could play a high safety or all the way in the slot in nickel.

The Houston Texans need talent in the secondary, simple as that. Adderley would provide excellent talent and could help out all over the field with his size, speed, and football IQ. The team shouldn’t hesitate to use one of their second-round picks on him during draft weekend.
