Houston Rockets: Three things Kenneth Faried brings to the team
Thing #3: A notable rebounding omnipresence
To say that Faried won’t make an impact on cleaning up the glass would be foolish. This is one of the main reasons why he was sought after by Morey, aside from the low-cost of signing him for the rest of the season. With the Rockets already in luxury tax hell, they have to find guys on the buyout market that can make an immediate impact.
It didn’t work so much in their favor with Brandan Wright and Joe Johnson but I do believe this

Faried signing is going to pay solid dividends.
Faried is currently averaging 18.6 points and 13.4 boards per 36 minutes so it goes to show that he’s self-starter and can actually give Tucker as well as a Harden a boost on the rebounding — particularly defensively — end.
He’s also good with offensive rebounding, being in the Top 10 in his percentage from the 2013-16 seasons so the potential is there. He had a close to a career-high 15.1 percent in 2015-16 (was third in the league) and currently has a 13.6 offensive rebounding percentage.
Crashing the boards is one of Capela’s calling cards as a ballplayer and Faried will help fill the void left by his counterparts absence.
All in all, I think this is an impressive win by Morey as a solution needed to be found to keep this train rolling despite the injury battles this team faces daily.
We’ll have to see how it goes but I’m actually excited about this acquisition.
Faried, 29, is averaging 5.1 points and 3.7 rebounds along with a shooting line of .595/.200/.625 in 12 games — no starts — this season.
