Houston Astros Rumors: Four rookies that could have a major impact
By T.A. Mock
The Houston Astros have one of the deepest farm systems in all of baseball. Let’s take a look at four rookies who could have a major impact in 2019.
It seems that the Houston Astros have had one of the league’s top farm systems for forever. In all reality, it has been a long time, probably the better part of a decade. The incredible part is this system has survived countless graduations, trades, and flameouts yet, it still remains one of the best.
As it goes in baseball, for every Alex Bregman, there is a Mark Appel. For every Framber Valdez, there is a Jack Mayfield, you probably never heard of him but he has been an integral part of the Astros AAA affiliate and he may never make a true impact in the big leagues. The Astros system has seen stars rise and fall and countless guys that glue this organization together.
Bregman is one of the most recent incredibly success stories. He rose quickly through the system and provided solid contributions in 2016 and the majority of 2017 before beginning his breakout in the playoffs before reaching superstardom in 2018.
On top of Bregman, there have been the recent successes of Carlos Correa, Josh James, Valdez, Chris Devenski, and many others. There have also been guys like Collin Moran and Daz Cameron who were the centerpieces of key trades for Houston Astros.
This team will be good for a long time because of this excellent farm system. There are a lot of players that are close to being solid contributors, at the minimum, very soon. So, let’s take a look at four rookies who could have a tremendous impact in 2019 even with the stacked major league roster. Some are more obvious than others, of course, but, let’s dive in.
