Darrell Bevell, former OC, Seattle Seahawks

Darrell Bevell has two highly esteemed quarterbacks under his name. One of them, Brett Favre, isn’t entirely credited to Bevell but he helped elongate his career, including Favre’s best season. The other, Russell Wilson, became a legitimate NFL star under Bevell’s tutelage.

Bevell has great experience as an offensive coordinator. He led some good offenses from 2006 to 2010 there before he wasn’t retained by the new head coach when Brad Childress was let go. Following that, Bevell joined up with Pete Carroll in Seattle to pilot some incredible offenses and teams.

Bevell took Wilson under his wing when Wilson was drafted in 2012. Wilson quickly became Seattle’s starting quarterback in spite of more highly paid options existing on the roster. Since then, Wilson has become one of the top quarterbacks in the league.

Bevell had some low moments as the Seahawks offensive coordinator but that shouldn’t prevent him from becoming an OC again. After he helped Wilson become great, Bevell could very well do so with a similar style QB in Watson. The Houston Texans would do well to kick the tires here.
