Shane Waldron, Passing Game Coordinator/TE coach, LA Rams

Shane Waldron‘s path to the NFL is an incredibly interesting one. He played tight end and long snapper at Tufts University. He then worked in operations for the Patriots before working his way up to special team’s quality control coach.

Waldron then coached a Notre Dame for a while before returning to New England for the 2008 and 2009 seasons. He and O’Brien crossed paths here. He was an offensive quality control coach in ’08 and the tight ends coach in ’09. BOB was the WR coach (’08) and QB coach (’09) during that time.

Waldron then bounced around the semipro and college circuit for a while before landing on Sean McVay’s offensive staff in Washington. He then followed McVay to Los Angeles and eventually took over the role of passing game coordinator in addition to being TE coach.

Waldron has that coveted New England connection as well years under the brightest offensive mind in the NFL. He could completely transform the Houston Texans offense if given the keys. He’s young and relates to his players well, it would be a risk but there is the potential for a lot of reward here.
