The Houston Texans offense had some big ups and downs during the 2018-19 season. They should hire an offensive coordinator to fix that, here are five options.

Unless you have been living under a rock for the past week, you know that the Houston Texans 2018-19 season has come to a close. Unless you have been living under a rock for the past few months, you know that it is miraculous that they made it to the playoffs.

After a horrendous 0-3 start, people were coming out in droves asking for Bill O’Brien‘s head on a platter. However, things quickly turned around and the team ripped off a nine-game winning streak that ultimately piloted them to the playoffs.

However, in that playoff matchup against the Colts, the Texans offense stalled, once again. The crowd began to crawl out O’Brien following the game though, in much smaller numbers. There’s no way O’Brien is going anywhere, even if the Texans wanted him gone, because of the extension he signed last offseason.

Must Read. In spite of playoff loss, Texans seasons still a success. light

Regardless, something needs to change because O’Brien calling the plays for the Texans just was not working, even when the winning streak was at its pinnacle. His offense was stale and boring when it had no business being that way.

O’Brien has the makings of a phenomenal head coach. He has the personality of a general and that needs to be his primary role for the Houston Texans. Be the general, be the motivator, be the leader. Let someone else be the offensive coordinator. Let’s take a look at some options.

Honorable Mentions

Jeff Scott, Co-offensive coordinator, Clemson University

Why not try to reunite Deshaun Watson with his college OC? Could be interesting but would be a huge jump for Scott. He doesn’t call plays and shares OC duties. But, it’d be fun right?

Zac Taylor, QB coach, LA Rams

Of course, one of the first places to look is the hottest offenses. The Rams offense qualifies as that and Taylor has helped it get there. Though, he is being interviewed for one of the few head coaching vacancies which is why he’s an honorable mention. Plus, I’d reckon the Rams promote him to OC before they let him leave to be an OC

Larry Fedora, former head coach, University of North Carolina

Fedora was once seen as one of the brightest offensive minds in college football. However, his star began to diminish and UNC with it. The former head coach may want to make a jump to the NFL and being an OC is the way to do it.
