Josh Jacobs, RB, Alabama

Honestly, this pick would be an absolute dream for the Houston Texans. However, Josh Jacobs may have shot himself far above where they’ll select in April with his performance in the National Championship game.

Jacobs has it all as a prospect. He can play with great speed. He has tremendous power. He has soft hands. He can block. Quite literally, this dude can do it all. The crazy thing is, he has almost zero production at Alabama where he was hidden behind other NFL prospects who aren’t as good of prospects.

More from House of Houston

So, not only does Jacobs have it all but, he also has almost zero tread off of his tires. He barely broke the 100 carry mark this season and never has before and also didn’t eclipse 30 catches. That being said, whenever the ball was in his hands it was guaranteed 5 yards and had a shot at the house, every time.

All of this was on display against Clemson as he was one of the few bright spots for the Tide in the National Championship game. He probably played his way out of the Texans range but if he’s available the Houston Texans should look to replace Lamar Miller with Jacobs and let D’Onta Foreman back Jacobs up. The impact on this offense would be tremendous in every facet of the game.

Other options: David Montgomery (Iowa State)

David Montgomery could have a similar type of impact as Jacobs. He is an excellent runner with a terrific motor. He could be a true bell cow in the NFL, something the Texans don’t have. However, he isn’t as sure in the pass game as Jacobs, both as a blocker and a receiver.

Next. The Texans 2018-19 season was still a success. dark

The Houston Texans have a tremendous opportunity to get better in the 2019 draft. These five guys, plus some alternatives, are just the tip of the iceberg. What position would you like to see the team address? Drop it in a comment below!
