The Houston Texans 2018-19 season is over. Now, that the wild card round is over their draft slot is set. Here are 5 players to target with the 23rd pick.

What a season the Houston Texans had. Sure, the season didn’t end the ultimate goal. But, in September, was the Super Bowl even in anyone’s mind? It probably shouldn’t have been if it was because of the 0-3 start, even though they were all lost by a small margin.

Then, the Texans finally won a close one against the Colts, ironically enough, that ended up being a catalyst for a nine-game win streak, one of the most historic in league history. At the end of the day, the Texans finished the season with an 11-5 record, which was one of the best in team history.

Next, Houston was step up to face off against Indianapolis in the Wild Card round of the playoffs and for the third time this year. The season record against the Colts was 1-1. It was sure to be a tough matchup but one that the Texans could win. Ultimately, the team was unable to take care of business and they were sent home packing.

Must Read. Three reasons why the Texans lost to the Colts in the playoffs. light

As great as it was to see this team rally from a 0-3 deficit only to see them win the division and make the playoffs, this Houston Texans was still very flawed and had a lot of holes that the Colts were able to expose, twice, as were the Eagles. Bill O’Brien and Brain Gaine still have a lot of work to do to ensure that this team becomes a perennial championship contender around Deshaun Watson, DeAndre Hopkins, and J.J. Watt.

This championship building, of course, starts with the draft. Gaine had a very solid first draft that saw the team select Justin Reid, Keke Coutee, and Jordan Thomas. There were also plenty of other players who contributed and have a lot of potential.

Gaine did all of that without a first or second-round pick. This year, he’ll have one first rounder and two second rounders to continue building a championship contender. The Houston Texans will be on the clock for the 23rd overall pick, let’s take a look at some of the options the team will have there.
