The Houston Texans lost to the Indianapolis Colts in the first round of the playoffs. Let’s take a look at three reasons why the Texans got sent home early.

Well, ladies and gentlemen, the Houston Texans roller coaster of a season ended the same way it started, with a disappointing loss. They took the field against the Colts on Saturday afternoon during the Wild Card round of the playoffs.

In the regular season, the Texans and Colts split their two matchups. The Texans won the first round and started a nine-game winning streaking with that victory. The Colts won the second matchup in week 15. Both of those games were decided by three points each. So, Saturday’s game was sure to be an exciting one.

Except, it wasn’t. The Colts got off to a roaring start, driving the length of the field four times in a row for three touchdowns and an interception. The Texans, on the other hand, got off to a miserable start with punt after punt. Ultimately, the Colts completed the rout, 21-7, knocking the Texans out of the playoffs.

Now, it wasn’t all bad for the Houston Texans. There were some bright spots. After the first quarter and a half, the Texans actually played competitive football. In fact, for the final 6 minutes of the first half and the entire second half, the Colts didn’t score a point while the Texans scored their only touchdown. Keke Coutee being back and healthy was also a huge boost to this team, he led the team with 11 receptions for 110 yards and a touchdown.

However, it was too little too late for the Texans in this one and they’ll watch the rest of the playoffs from their home. There were several factors to this loss, some more obvious than others, like the porous offensive line. But, it was known that this was an issue so, let’s take a look at three other reasons why the Texans lost this game, besides the fact that Frank Reich called a great game and Andrew Luck executed a great one once again.
