2. Jeff Bagwell, 1B, 1991 – 2005

Jeff Bagwell was the centerpiece of the deal that sent Larry Andersen to the Red Sox in 1990. Bagwell made his debut in 1991, won Rookie of the Year, and both he and the team never once looked back. Bagwell is the franchise leader in WAR, (79.6), home runs (449), RBIs (1,529), and walks (1,401).

In 1994, Bagwell put together an MVP season in 1994 that saw him slash .368/.451/.750, launch 39 home runs and drive in 116 RBIs. Bagwell was simply a beast at the plate. He launched 43 home runs in the final year of the Astrodome (1999) and followed that up with a franchise record 47 home runs in the inaugural season of then Enron Stadium.

Bagwell’s 15 years as an Astro were legendary. He could do it all at the plate and he did it for over a decade straight. He also had a pretty good glove and surprising speed, he stole over 30 bases twice. Bagwell’s iconic batting stance is also something that will be remembered forever. He is one of the premier Houston Astro legends and the most recent Astro to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Bagwell has remained a fixture in Houston and will likely remain a fixture for a very, very long time. In addition to those incredible stats mentioned above, Bagwell as managed 2,314 hits in his career en route to a .297 career batting average. There was no part of the game he didn’t dominate at during at least one portion of his career.
