Houston Astros: Top 30 players in franchise history
By T.A. Mock
18. Glenn Davis, 1B, 1984 – 1990
Glenn Davis swung one of the most powerful bats the Houston Astros organization has ever seen. On a 162 game average, he launched 33 home runs and drove in 102 RBIs in the Astrodome. Those are insane power numbers.
Davis provided more than just a powerful bat, however. He also hit for a decent average and managed a more than capable first base. He was a two-time All-Star and finished second in MVP voting once while appearing on ballots two other times. He was also a silver slugger.
Davis time, compared to a lot of the guys on the list, was brief, both in Houston and in the majors in general. He played for Houston for seven years, though his first season was only 18 games. After he left, he only played three years in Baltimore before his career was over.
However, in his six full seasons, he made his impact felt. His power was incredible and he was a solid, steady contributor for this Astros team. His play was always consistent and the team could rely on his power and a decent average every time he stepped to the plate.
