Houston Texans: Three players who got snubbed from the Pro Bowl
By David Graf
Tyrann Mathieu, S
Tyrann Mathieu‘s arrival in Houston has been huge for the Texans this season. He was selected as a captain in his first season in Houston, and he has not disappointed in leading this team’s defense. With the help of Jackson, he has helped lock up opposing passing offenses.
His numbers are similar to Jackson, and it is a shame that neither of them got the nod to go to Orlando. While starting 14 games, Mathieu has also amassed 82 tackles and reeled in two interceptions of his own. He’s also collected four tackles for loss.

The Honey Badger, along with the return of J.J. has brought an incredible swagger to this defense that has allowed them to return to greatness this season after a down 2017-18 campaign. His presence has given this team great confidence that helped power the greatest single-season turnaround in NFL history.
In 2015, Mathieu was selected for the Pro Bowl as a member of the Arizona Cardinals and had similar numbers that season. He got the nod as an alternate along with Jackson this year, but he should have been selected for the team from the get-go.
Mathieu has, much like Jackson, been invaluable to this Houston Texans team this season. Sure, he got the Pro Bowl alternate but he was snubbed from the get-go. Here’s to hoping he returns to Houston next year so this wrong can be righted.
As meaningless as the Pro Bowl can seem, it’s still an extreme honor to be elected to the NFL’s All-Star game. So, it is a shame these Houston Texans were snubbed from this honor even if there were players who were equally as deserving that made it.
