Kareem Jackson, CB/S

Kareem Jackson has never received a Pro Bowl nod in his nine-year career, but this season has been his best so far this season. He’s helped lead a secondary that is limiting opposing offenses to 20.1 points per game.

He’s started all 14 games this season and has already eclipsed his highest tackle total with 82 so far. He’s also accounted for five tackles for loss and collected two interceptions. He’s also been able to force two fumbles and recovered one. This is a stat line that, as the Houston Texans PR pointed out, has never been done before.

The Texans already have three defenders going to the Pro Bowl, but Jackson has held down the secondary for one of the best defense’s in the NFL this season. He deserved more consideration than he received, and his alternate selection is an appropriate consolation.

light. Also. The Texans should tag and trade Clowney

One of the biggest assets Jackson has brought to the team is his versatility. The Houston Texans seemed to have more corners than they did safeties to start the season so they asked him to move to safety and he did. He quickly made the transition and adapted well and played some excellent football.

Then, once the cornerback position became decimated with injuries and Mathieu and Justin Reid were manning the safety position well, the team moved him back to corner. He kept up his excellent play after the move back. This ultimately may have hurt his Pro Bowl stock but it’s made him invaluable to this team.
