Houston Rockets Rumors: How Kentavious Caldwell-Pope fits in Houston
By T.A. Mock
The Houston Rockets have long been after help on the wings. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is, reportedly, their top target. Here’s how he fits on the team.
The Houston Rockets have been one of the biggest surprises of the NBA season, but not for any good reason. They stumbled out of the gates to a sub .500 record that they failed to climb out from under until very recently.
The only consistently solid players that have taken the court for the Rockets this season are reigning MVP James Harden and Clint Capela. Harden has been up to his usual business and has been scoring at an excellent clip in the recent five-game winning streak, averaging over 35 points per game.
However, other key players have struggled mightily to start the season. Eric Gordon could buy a three-pointer to save his life. Chris Paul looked like he was finally showing the beginning of a long-awaited decline. But, both players have turned it around and are now playing like we’ve grown accustomed to.
The Houston Rockets main free agent acquisitions haven’t quite turned out like the team hoped they would either. The Carmelo Anthony experiment was an unmitigated disaster and he hasn’t been with the team for over a month. James Ennis has been fairly decent but he hasn’t elevated his game the way the team was hoping he would when they signed him this offseason.
So, the team has been scouring the trade market for potential additions. There was a deal that was being discussed that involved Trevor Ariza. J.R. Smith is being explored but that isn’t the best option. However, the team appears to have their sights set on Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and he would be a terrific addition, let’s take a look at how he would fit.
