Element #2: Ancient History

A while back, I wrote about the cities Houston’s sports teams need to conquer in significant games. Philadelphia was listed as one of the five. In terms of population, Houston is bigger than Philadelphia. But yet, Philadelphia, like Boston, is like the little brother that gets the attention and rewards no matter how hard Houston tries to beat them.

This applies to the Houston Texans this week. Houston is currently 0-4 all-time against the Eagles. It doesn’t help when you’re playing a team that’s in the most competitive division in NFL history while you’re in a weaker division. But if you think that’s bad, cover your eyes for this one.

Also. 1st round bye secured, plenty of work left to do. light

Houston, we have a problem. We’re still in a narrative that we’re good, but not great. The Oilers had some strong teams in the past. But there were better teams (Steelers, Bills, Cowboys) just to name a few. The fact that neither team has managed to beat the Eagles ever is concerning.

To add to the drama, the Eagles are still in position to win the NFC East. They just need to win out and have the Cowboys lose one more. So in hindsight, with the Eagles coming off a big win last week and taking on the Texans at home given the history against both teams, you can imagine the narrative is going to remain the same.
