The Houston Texans’ game against the Eagles has been intensified. With second place in their hands, it’s time to defeat history and control destiny.

How about these Houston Texans right now? Last week, they were coming off a disappointing loss to the Colts and were just a mere minutes away from suffering an embarrassing loss to the Jets on Saturday. But once again, Deshaun Watson came through in the clutch and led another game-winning drive on their way to a 29-22 win.

But that was only part of the story. The very next night, the Steelers stunned the Patriots 17-10 in Pittsburgh. Because of this, the Texans are now in a position to finish with the second best record in the AFC.

Last week, I talked about two important factors that were needed in order for Houston to have a legitimate chance to claim automatic qualification for the second round. Factor one has been completed. Now comes factor two, arguably the more important one. So, why is factor two more important that factor number one?

Factor two requires the Texans to beat the Philadelphia Eagles this week in Philadelphia. Consider that the Patriots are “not” out of contention for a first-round bye just yet as they have the Bills and Jets in their final two games. It’s simple for the Texans: win.

Now you might be thinking the headline here is foolish because we know why factor two is tougher than factor one. Unlike last time where the Texans had no control over the Patriots-Steelers game, this is the time, they do have control. That is the most important thing to consider. But, there was another element that was added last Sunday.

I said last week that the Eagles pretty much had their chances of clinching the NFC East all but end despite them still being in the hunt. We thought because Carson Wentz was going to be a loss for the season again that the Eagles couldn’t pull it off. Yet, they gave us a reminder of why they’re the defending Super Bowl champions. If you thought the Nick Foles story was a fluke, think again.
